Online reservations for the RV park and primitive camping sites 7 and 19-27 may be made online at here
Primitive campsites 1-6 and 8-18 will be first come, first serve with onsite registrations. Self-registration for those campsites is available near the entrance of the primitive campground. Campsite 7 is for large group camping. Primitive campsites are restricted to tent camping and pull behind campers UNDER 15 feet in length that don’t require hook-up. All other RV’s must utilize the RV campground or the south side of the main parking lot for overflow space. Please contact Park Host for further details beginning May 15th.
Park is open 24 hours. The entrance for the primitive campground is located due south of the office. The road winds around the southwest corner of the island. The road is around .5 miles long. The speed limit is 5 mph and we expect that to be followed.
Campers and RV's will be allowed to park on the south side of the parking lot and pay $15 per night as well, first come, first serve.
Our RV @ QSP campground will open on May 15 2025 40 RV stalls open, with electrical and water hookups + dump station available! Each site has 30 & 50 amp electric hook-up, fire ring and picnic table. The bathroom/shower house construction was completed this fall and will also be open May 15th.
The Colfax Park Auxiliary Board, with the support of the City of Colfax, believes the “RV@QSP” project will generate future revenue for the park and the city, as well as allow other enhancements of the park for a greater number of outdoor enthusiasts.

Seeking site camp host - single or couple
Quarry Springs Park, Colfax, IA (20 miles east of Des Moines, IA on Interstate I-80)
For 2025 Season May 15 thru Sept 30, 2025 - Part-Time
Will include holidays and weekends
New 40 stall RV Campground and established 25 stall primitive campground located in Colfax IA, 20 miles east of Des Moines along Interstate 80.
RV Site + Wages: Host will receive the RV site with water, sewer and electric hook-up. Schedule and stipend to be negotiated.
Primary Responsibilities: Greet/assist visitors, provide information, reserve and monitor camping reservations, computer comfortable with online reservation system (we will train) light Park maintenance of grounds and facilities.
